3M taps Paragon Innovations to help create ‘first of its kind’ meeting presentation system

PLANO, Texas - June 13, 2001 - Paragon Innovations Inc., a Plano, Texas-based technology design services company announced today that 3M(tm)'s Austin, Texas-based Visual Systems Division is debuting the 3M(tm) Wall Display, a "first of its kind" flat-screen presentation system that blends the latest in audio and visual technologies. Paragon Innovations participated in the technology design and development of the Wall Display.

The unit is being introduced by 3M today at the International Communications Industries Association Inc.(r) Infocomm International 2001 trade show, June 13-15, in Las Vegas.

3M Teams with Paragon to Pioneer New Concept

3M contracted with Paragon Innovations in March 2000, to help pioneer the new, all-in-one meeting presentation concept. Paragon is now working with 3M to complete the final details of the Wall Display, which is targeted for September availability in selected markets.

Mike Wilkinson, founder and chairman of Paragon Innovations, commented on the initial meeting, "We were intrigued by the system's concept, which demanded complex, pioneering technology -- perfect for our team of technology experts."

"The 3M Wall Display is the highest technology display device on the market today," said Guenter Lehmann, Paragon's senior project navigator. "Using an array of technologies - from the complex embedded systems that we designed, to Texas Instruments' DLP technologies - the display transforms presentations from static images, text and bullets to a vivid, dynamic world of multimedia imagery that increases audience interest and participation. From the classroom to the boardroom - it's perfect for presentation users."

"Paragon's electronics helped us to develop a new category of meeting presentation system," said Steve Saxe, Wall Display project manager, 3M Visual Systems Division. "The display controller board developed with Paragon handles multiple-image inputs, including the new DVI digital standard, and incorporates state-of-the-art image processing to pre-correct optical distortion. We look forward to a long, successful relationship with the Paragon team."

On the Wall, Off the Charts

The Wall Display was designed for presentations of all types - from Ms. Wood's classroom show-and-tell to a Fortune 100 executive forum. It incorporates simple, remote one-button operation with universal capabilities that allow it to be used for multimedia presentations. It also serves as a dry-erase board and digital whiteboard. It also adds convenience as a professional system that is always available for any meeting room or training environment.

Capabilities include full-motion video, animation and graphics, plus connectivity to virtually any multimedia device, from TVs and VCRs to DVD players. Special technology enables a short projection distance and distortion-free images. By integrating new and incumbent technologies, the 3M Wall Display provides an all-in-one solution that eliminates peripherals such as television monitors, multimedia projectors and flipcharts.

Wilkinson is enthusiastic about The Wall Display's potential. "This system is truly a new-to-the-world concept in display technology."
